Dentistry To Keep You Young

A new year has just recently begun, and many of you have probably made resolutions, but it’s April now and how well have you been holding up? Many of you probably vowed to lead a healthier life, more sports, less junk food, more time in the open, etc. These are great promises, and they help us not only with our health but also our appearances. The same is true of nice, even, clean teeth. It is time to stop procrastinating and start those dental treatments, especially if you have been putting it off for a while. Once you are done, you will see that not only will you feel better, you will look better, and you will forego the stress of booking appointments and dealing with pain, making you look and feel younger. This of course contributes vastly to your confidence. Here are five dental treatments that can reverse the sands of time.

1) Veneers

Dental veneers are tiny pieces of porcelain that are meant to correct minor aesthetic problems and discrepancies. These are done with direct or composite veneers, but there are also porcelain ones. The composite varieties are made while you wait in the chair by a dentist on the spot, the porcelain ones you will need to wait with a bit, as a technician needs to make it in a laboratory, and because of this, as well as because of the materials used in the making of the veneers, this variety is significantly more expensive. But because of recent developments in the field of dentistry, there is no longer a need to chisel the enamel off of your teeth.

2) Tooth whitening

As time progresses, your teeth become stained and lose their once brilliant color. Drinking coffee and tea and smoking can make this happen even faster. White sparkling teeth are associated with youth and good health, and the brilliance of the teeth signifies youth. Regaining that lost glimmer is not impossible; it only requires a simple whitening session. There are many different kinds of tooth whitening methods available on the market today. You can get it done at home by yourself, in the chair with a dentist, there are laser options and organic, even ayurvedic options as well. You can read all about them on our website, if you wish to know more.

3) Dental implants

Sometimes it can be the case that a tooth is beyond saving, and that tooth needs to be extracted. There is no need to panic, though, as this tooth can be replaced entirely, with dental implantation. The surrounding teeth usually do not need to be touched, and the artificial tooth will be completely life like. Dentists can now make artificial crowns any color, shape or angle that you may wish. If the tooth that needed to be extracted was a bit crooked, for example, you can get the crown to be just as crooked or less so, depending on your wishes, and the doctor’s orders.

4) Crown touch ups

Crowns and artificial dental prostheses do not get discolored in the same way and to the same extent that our regular teeth do. This can create quite a conundrum, if the teeth and the crowns start to become very different shades of off white. This can easily be solve din one of two ways; you can either get a tooth whitening session, which will bring out the whitest of both crown and tooth, or you can get the crown to be colored differently. With metal crowns, the gums will eventually show a gray line going across the gums, which is not a very aesthetic sight. In these cases you should switch from a metal crown to a metal free crown immediately. Zirconium is the best metal free internal structure, and it resembles natural teeth down to the very last detail.

5) Orthodontics

Many people are concerned that wearing braces will make their smiles less attractive. This is not true. Braces are becoming more and more popular, and you can choose from a wide variety of braces, not just the usual all metal train tracks that are commonly associated with the device. Contrary to popular belief, it is never too late to start orthodontic treatment, so I can wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone who wants to even out their smile, but I can also suggest it to people who suffer from bleeding gums and from gum infections. These are frequently caused by food debris that gets stuck between the teeth, and the bacteria that proliferate around the food bits. Teeth that are pushed together are difficult to clean, and are difficult to care for.

You can partake in any of the treatments mentioned here at our dentistry. Do not hesitate to contact us and see one of our dentists for an in depth consultation session, and start living up to that new year’s resolution. You will not regret it.
