When should we change our fillings?

  • If our tooth is sensitive (decay can find its way under the filling) 
  • If we would like to change amalgam filling into new, aeshetic one 
  • If our tooth gets physically harmed (the filling can move out of its place, tooth decay may get under it)

Why does a tooth need a filling? 
You need a filling when tooth decay has caused a hole (cavity) to form on a tooth surface. If you don't get a filling, the cavity will get worse. It may cause pain and then an abscess. This may lead to more severe problems, such as bone loss.
