Many facets of modern medicine use lasers, from ophthalmology to surgeries, and dentistry is no different. In the world of dentistry, lasers are used for hygiene sessions, for whitening reasons, for oral surgery and to disinfect teeth. Different kinds of lasers are used for each of these tasks, and many different kinds of lasers exist in the use of dentistry.

In our day and age, one of the few diseases left that seem to be above treatment is cancer. In Hungary, oral cancer is the tenth most common form of cancer, and this is reflected on the rest of the world as well. The good news is 90% of all oral cancers are curable, if they are discovered in time. The problem is that it is rarely diagnosed in time. This is why going to screenings is so important, and to be educated about the symptoms of oral cancer, which we hope to provide below.
Most of us will have to deal with cold sores at one time or another in our lives. Cold sores are small, swollen sacks with a ring of sensitive skin around it, usually appearing on the gums, on the inside of the mouth and cheek, or on the mucus membranes. The sore itself is harmless but unpleasant; it can become sensitive and turn into a scab, it can bother us when speaking, and can hurt when exposed to hot or cold, or spicy foods and carbonated beverages.
Although sold as a reliable, legitimate diet in certain parts of the world, the diet that has come to be known as the tongue patch diet is in no ways a medically safe procedure, and cannot be called healthy in any sense of the word. I want to speak a few words on the subject, give an idea of what it is, and why it is terrible for your oral cavity. After that, everyone can decide if they want this procedure or not, because it does “help” you lose weight, but at a price that everyone should be informed about.
If your tooth is really badly damaged, and nothing more can be done, an extraction will have to be performed. Dentists will do everything in their power to save living teeth, and not have to use prosthetics, but a time comes when the tooth is either dead, or is so infected or decayed that leaving it in is simply no longer an option, and it has to come out. Usually, the tooth will hurt like crazy right around this time as well, so patients are glad to be rid of the tooth. The problem is, the pain sometimes does not stop right there.
