Researchers the world over have been baffled at the fact that the bacteria in a mothers mouth tends to resemble the bacteria found in her young children. When you have all of the facts, it is not all that surprising, but at face value, this should not be happening.

The previous myths included the belief that more expensive toothpaste is necessarily better, that chewing gum negates the need to brush teeth, that decayed teeth need to be extracted, and other such nonsense. The list was far from complete though, and this week we are going to expose another 10 ridiculous dental misunderstandings that are prevalent.
Cavities and tooth decay affect nearly 100% of the adult population of the world. It is caused by an imbalance between the bacteria that live in the mouth and the immune reactions that control them, which leads to a proliferation of bacteria, which then produces acidic byproducts that erodes tooth enamel. This process takes a while, and there are signs that make it easy to detect tooth decay early on.
